Several years ago, while sailing in Maine, I read a small article in the newspaper about a lobster buoy that was lost and washed ashore in England.  I thought there is a story here—a very fun story for children!

Tim, the son of a lobster fisherman carves his first lobster buoy out of wood. The surface of the buoy is rough and looks like a face, so Tim paints a pair of eyes and a mouth.  He also paints his lucky number – 4 and calls the buoy Lucky.  The buoy is lucky until one day the line connecting it to the lobster trap is cut and Lucky is set adrift on the out-going tide. After many fun and amazing adventures, Lucky is finally returned to Tim.
